Jeff Snow's Softer Side of Celtic Concert

Sunday, March 12:00—3:30 PMCommunity RoomNorfolk Public Library2 Liberty Lane, Norfolk, MA, 02056

Join us as we celebrate St. Patrick's day a bit early with a musical performance by Jeff Snow.

The Softer Side of Celtic combines the music, stories and a wee bit of history from Scotland, Ireland and England into a program that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There will be singing, laughing, clapping and perhaps a bit of foot stomping.

The Story of John Hunt: You will hear the story of John Hunt who came to America in 1855. He settled in Aberdeen Maryland, found a job, got married and had children. He never returned to Ireland and never saw his family again. John came to America when he was 13. Their only communication was the annual family letter that told John the family news. The letters were discovered in the 1970’s and became the foundation for the Ballad of Kilkelly Ireland. You can learn more and read the first and last of the series of letters at http://www.jeffsnow.net/kilkelly.html

Jeff’s concert is interactive, and he encourages questions and input from the audience. The typical concert lasts 75-90 minutes and includes music on the guitar, bouzouki and autoharp.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Norfolk Public Library.
